About/Major HeadCanons
- Ivan is easily upset, and could be considered a bit of a crybaby on a bad day
- Ivan is very shy around new people
- He acts very childish due to his sub-par excuse for a childhood, so he's just making up for lost years. (More information on this in the Commentary.)
- He wasn’t always like this. When the USSR fell, Ivan shrunk a few centimeters and became less scary; his purple aura became less prominent and everything. His bad habits, however, were still there. This got in the way of him making friends, so he decided he needed to find another outlet in expressing himself. He found crying was he least harmful thing, and it helped, so it stuck.
- Ivan has voices in his head, but does not have a split personality in the typical sense (see bold at bottom). These voices are subdued by medication.
- The voices in his head are Soviet/Anton (see bottom) and General Winter.
- Ivan hates being alone, and has terrible abandonment issues. His greatest fear is being left by someone he loves.
- Ivan suffers from severe Paranoia, OCD, depression and Bipolar Disorder, along with mild Multiple Personality Disorder and Schizophrenia. (I know this sounds like a lot, but it’s all with good reason. Trust me.) He has to take medication and antipsychotics every morning and afternoon or else he will become very unstable. AKA, he'll be very touchy and likely to snip at you.
- Ivan has OCD due to all of the wars he’s had. He didn’t just sit along in the sidelines; he went out and fought. This meant that he was treated as any other soldier. He divided food rations between his fellow soldiers, because no matter how much he ate, if they were hungry he was too. Also, with all the disorder and lack of control during the wars, Ivan felt it nice to finally have control and order in something, even if it was just the cleanliness of his house. Due to his terrible paranoia, the OCD sticks whether a war is raging or not.
- Due to time-zone-changing shenanigans in Russia, Ivan has mild Narcolepsy. He won't unexpectedly fall asleep very often, but he's still prone to bouts of sleepiness. There is often a so called "trigger" for Narcolepsy, and it's usually a very strong emotion. Well, for Ivan, it's waiting. Especially if there's a clock nearby.
- Ivan is deathly afraid of thunder, for reasons that will be explained in the next bullet.
- The scar from Tzar Bomba is the largest on Ivan's body. It always has a dull ache, but he's learned to ignore it until he's reminded of the accident. Thunder does this, and his mind recognizes the pain again, causing Ivan to panic because he's not sure if it's just a loud noise or if it's happening again.(See? There's a reason why he's afraid of thunder!)
- ON THE SUBJECT OF IVAN’S “DARKER” MORE VIOLENT SIDE: He is not a split personality in the typical sense. Meaning, this is neither Vanya’s true personality nor something he never has been. This is the representation of all things bad inside of him. YES, he will occasionally take control over Ivan, but this is what is buried in the recesses of Ivan’s brain. When drunk or angered to a massive extent, this side of him will show. NO, Ivan is not stuttery and nervous because of this personality exists. He doesn’t even try to hide it. He just thinks that it’s another voice in his head, rather than another entity completely. Whenever this side of him comes out, Ivan will not remember it.
- Ivan's darker side goes by two names: Anton and Soviet.
